Preliminary Task

My first task set was to create a school magazine. The target audience was aimed at  the lower years from year 7 to 11. I decided to include an image of pupils in their school uniform stood in front of the Chenderit sign to help establish the location and who the magazine is aimed for. I had them posing with happy faces to obviously portray that Chenderit is a happy place and a great school as who would want to purchase a magazine about an awful school? I decided to put ideas for the prom, as the people who have not had their prom yet would be interested in reading the magazine to get ideas for their prom, and the people who have already had their prom can remember what their prom was like and what the latest trend will be this year. I also did Exam hints and tips as many people become stressed when worrying over exams. I also used black and red for the colour scheme as it relates to the school uniform. The contents page was just a mock up of what it would look like. The image used of six peoples head shots were borrowed from the school website which I would have taken my own photo of. As having very little experience with photoshop and no experience with InDesign, I first struggled with the preliminary task and will need to develop my skills in both areas in order to create a much more exciting magazine which suits my target audience.
